how does it end? (2023)

How does it end? proves once again that Kendall Bell is a maestro wordsmith with this heartbreakingly profound collection. With incredibly vivid imagery in each poem, and lines like “my broken stringed heart hardening like/a crust around a jelly jar,” and “this desert/landscape absorbs sadness like a/sacrament,” this collection easily captures the readers’ attention. The collection is strong throughout and closes on a powerful note with “Elegy.”

Still (2023)

Inspired by lyrics from Soccer Mommy's "Sometimes, Forever" album, Still is Kendall A. Bell's 32nd chapbook.

the shallows (2022)

the shallows is an exercise in how isolation, heartbreak and melancholy can be the thing that both breaks and sustains someone. Bell's unflinching tone permeates the poems within, and leaves a feeling of resignation in the face of loss, yet maintains a sense of nostalgia for the moments homed in his memories. This collection resonates in the bones long after completion.
